Driving around Utah, it’s hard not to notice how many billboards are advertising blankets.
So. Many. Billboards.
And I have questions.
How much money goes into all that advertising?
Who decided blankets needed this much attention?
When did blankets become such a competitive thing?
Why does this feel so concentrated here?
I can’t find a reliable source that knows about advertising dollars, but there are actually six solid reasons for why blankets are getting so much attention here.
1. High business-formation rates
Utah has more new businesses per capita than most states, which increases the likelihood of multiple companies forming in the same category.
2. Favorable business climate
Lower taxes, lower operating costs, and fewer regulatory barriers make it easier for small, product-based companies to grow here.
3. Young, skilled workforce
Utah’s young and well-educated population supports industries that rely on design, marketing, social media, and e-commerce.
4. Strong support systems
Startup accelerators, funding programs, and university resources help consumer-product companies access early support.
5. Higher-than-average rate of breakout companies
Utah’s track record with successful consumer brands tends to attract more founders into similar markets.
6. Quality-of-life factors
A strong emphasis on home, family life, and indoor comfort creates steady demand for products like blankets.
All of this points to the same thing: Utah blanket companies thrive because the environment here supports them.
When a company – or a person, for that matter – is thriving, the environment sometimes holds the clue.
AND when a company – or a person – is not thriving, the environment sometimes holds the clue.
What might change if you adjusted your environment to support what you need to really thrive?
Want to find out?
Here are a few ways to start:
1. Notice what drains and what energizes you. Look for the patterns.
2. Remove one thing that makes daily life heavier. Less weight creates more room to breathe.
3. Add one element to your environment that helps you feel steadier. Find something that brings you more ease.
4. Match routines and systems to the pace you need right now. Alignment with who you want to be in this moment can be a key to support.
I can’t wait to see which small shift in your environment makes the biggest difference for you!
And if you want to take this one step further, I would love to talk it through.
